Event Recap: Saint Martin de Porres Ribbon Cutting


Back in April, the team here at Oak & Honey Events was honored to help Saint Martin de Porres plan a ribbon cutting ceremony for their new high school, located at the corner of East 62nd Street and St. Clair Avenue in Cleveland. Each year, our team helps plan Saint Martin's annual Birthday Bash (click here for a recap of the 2018 event!), but this event was different. Instead of fundraising, this event celebrated the unveiling of a new, state-of-the-art school.

The tech-savvy building is designed to give students a taste of what a college experience might look like for them, and what they might find in their workplace environments in the future. Not only that, the new school is projected to add capacity for 100 more students.

It was an exciting day, and we were thrilled to be a part of it!

Recap of the 2018 Saint Martin de Porres Birthday Bash


Wedding season is in full swing in Cleveland! Nearly every weekend, our team is surrounded by the prettiest details and most beautiful brides. But did you know... weddings aren't the only events we plan. In fact, Oak & Honey Events loves to plan and design social events for all occasions. For the past few years, we've had the pleasure of planning a nonprofit event and fundraiser for Saint Martin de Porres school in Cleveland. The annual event brings together friends, family, donors, community members, faculty and staff to celebrate the amazing accomplishments of its students, and to help invest in the success of the school's future.

Below, we're sharing a collection of photos that represents the essence of the event, care of Kayla Lupean Photography & Cinema. We'd also like to thank Cleveland Museum of Art for providing space for the event, Bon Appetit Management Company for creating a delicious menu, and Event Source for rentals and equipment.

Julie Billiart Schools Gala Event Recap


"A Time to Celebrate" On April 21st, friends, family and community supporters gathered at the InterContinental Hotel and Conference Center to celebrate the children of Julie Billiart Schools. Oak & Honey had the pleasure of planning the soiree.

With nearly 400 in attendance participating enthusiastically in the evening's silent and live auctions and the Fund-a-Need program, the gala raised nearly $300,000. According to Julie Billiart Schools, "These dollars will be used to help sustain our current programs and services for children with unique learning needs, while allowing us to reach even more students throughout Northeast Ohio."

Oak & Honey at the Crate and Barrel Private Registry Event


Oak & Honey Events spent a fun Sunday last fall at a party hosted by Crate and Barrel. The store hosted a Private Registry Event on Sunday, October 15, 2017 to help brides in the Cleveland area create their perfect wedding registry. Attendees enjoyed refreshments, private access to the store, free samples, vendor promos and product demos.

Gearing Up for the 2018 Saint Martin de Porres Birthday Bash


Oak & Honey Events plans more than just weddings - in fact, we have a soft spot for nonprofit event planning. Each year, we plan a number of nonprofit events in the greater Cleveland community, and one of our favorites is the annual event for Saint Martin de Porres High School. In 2017, we had the pleasure of planning their birthday bash - and we're honored to be planning the 2018 event scheduled for May 12th! The event celebrates Saint Martin's students and alumni, as well as the teachers, staff, and Corporate Work Study Partners that support them. According to the school - "When we invest in young people, they are capable of outstanding success!"

Thursday Therapy at Something White, A Bridal Boutique

Karin and Rebecca with Something White, A Bridal Boutique hosted our June Thursday Therapy a few weeks ago and boy did we have fun! From the cool drinks to the crepe station provided by Cafe Avalaun! Ashley Florals provided fabulous wine and gold arrangements keeping the Cavs game in mind that night on top of colorful floral linens from L'Nique Specialty Linens. Thursday Therapy at The Spinnaker Room

This past May we enjoyed the evening at The Spinnaker Room for Thursday Therapy! The Spinnaker Room is a new venue in downtown Cleveland that has an industrial feel. The Amour Company provided the most amazing small bites like mini chicken + waffles, meatballs, and AMAZING desserts! Thursday Therapy at LockKeepers



LockKeepers was so kind to host Thursday Therapy for us in April! As always, they had amazing food and cocktails! Mann & Wife Visual Storytellers captured the fabulous turn out of wedding professionals networking! The Red Twig provided some modern, organic floral details for the evening.Thank you to everyone to joined us!

Thursday Therapy at Molly Taylor and Co.

WOW - what a great turn out we had at February's Thursday Therapy at Molly Taylor and Co! Molly and Bailey were kind enough to host us at their floral studio in Hudson.  The rentals from All Occasions Party Rentals adorned with gorgeous floral designs by the Molly Taylor and Co. team. We loved the tulip gifts at the end of the evening! Hudson’s Restaurant & Catering knocked our socks off with a killer menu including tacos, savory donuts, and stuffed cornbread. Pope’s Kitchen a yummy lavender and lemon signature cocktail for the evening served by Bartenza! Thank you to Sarah for capturing the event! Thursday Therapy Cleveland

Thursday Therapy at Schofield Hotel

The snow and gridlock on the roads did not put a damper on our Thursday Therapy in January at the Schofield Hotel. Wedding professionals enjoyed yummy small bites like crab cakes and bacon wrapped dates stuffed with sausage while sipping signature cocktails. We added a twist to TT by creating a challenge to collect the most business cards from other wedding professionals. Bob was fortunate enough to receive a fabulous Distinct CLE crate filled with local goodies! Bronwen with Twig Floral created elegant floral arrangements that tied to the mid-century modern decor of the hotel. The best part of the evening was donations everyone brought for Akron Snow Angels! They filled a WHOLE car! And of course, thank you to Black Box Photography for capturing the evening! Join us next month on February 2nd at Molly Taylor and Co. A note for Akron Snow Angels......

We want to extend a sincere thank you for hosting the donation drive for Akron Snow Angels at your January 5th Thursday Therapy event. The items collected that day filled an entire car! Each and every article of clothing and all the toiletries donated will be given directly to someone in need. 

Our mission is to spread warmth and connect with the most vulnerable in our community by providing basic essentials and fostering compassionate friendships while inspiring others to do the same. Twice a month from November through April, we go on “missions” to homeless camps and areas surrounding shelters to provide lunches, toiletries, underwear, socks, cold-weather accessories, gently used clothing and coats.  We also take requests for items, such as backpacks, boots, sleeping bags, and bus passes, and do our best to quickly procure the items and deliver to the requestor. 

Our goal is not to just drop off a lunch and a jacket and walk away. We connect with the impoverished to determine needs and form relationships.  Our volunteers take the time to see how they can make a difference for these individuals, along with providing them with the necessary items that they are unable to provide for themselves.  We help them to find housing, jobs, and anything else they need to get back on their feet.

We couldn't do what we do without the generosity of the community and people like you.
