Cheers to 2015!
The start of a new year is the perfect time to take a moment to reflect on the previous year, and set goals and plan for the year ahead. I wanted to take a moment to share with you my achievements and challenges of 2014.
I founded Oak & Honey Events in January of 2014. I started the company because for years I have been volunteer organizer for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation as well as helping plan friend’s and family’s weddings. I decided it was time to take my design experience and redirect it to work in the wedding planning field. Oak & Honey Events was also founded because of my passion for protecting the environment and planning.
2014 was such an amazing year of achievements! When I started Oak & Honey Events I worked with Kelly from Sage Wedding Pros to build a business plan and foundation for the business so I was able to grow the business quickly. I had goals for 2014 that I have been blessed to achieve:
- Build relationships with others in the industry
- Create a brand
- Create a system that is prepared for business growth
I also faced challenges in 2014. My biggest challenge for Oak & Honey Events was getting my name out there to couples and other wedding vendors. I have participated in many different events through the year to help achieve this goal. We are so excited to see our hard work is paying off in 2014 and are filling the calendar up for 2015 with many amazing couples have the same goal as us to reduce the impact on the environment for their wedding day.
My goals for 2015 include both business and personal goals. I want to educate couples about the impact their wedding has on the environment through blog posts and educational sessions. Another goal is to continue expanding my knowledge by attending an educational workshop. And on the more personal side, I want to spend more quality time with family and friends and also take some time for myself and focus on getting back into a workout/healthy eating routine.
This past year has brought the joy of working with four amazing couples. I’m glad I had the opportunity to work with all of you to design and plan your weddings. I can’t thank each of you enough to allowing me to be part of your special day. Looking forward to what 2015 will bring.
Happy New Year!
Melanie
