Every love story is unique, and Sarah and Drew’s journey to the altar was nothing short of magical. From a breathtaking proposal in Florence, Italy, to a stunning wedding in the heart of Washington, D.C., their celebration was a perfect blend of romance, meaningful details, and a nod to their love for travel and family.
In the summer of 2023, Sarah and Drew went on a trip to Italy, but little did Sarah know, this trip would change her life forever. As they made their way to dinner at Cinghiale Bianco, they crossed the iconic Ponte Vecchio bridge, a spot known for its stunning views over the Arno River. Sarah paused to capture a photo, and when she turned around, she found Drew down on one knee, ready to ask the most important question of their lives. In shock and absolute joy, Sarah said YES! They celebrated in true Florentine fashion- grabbing a glass of wine at a charming wine window before heading to dinner– and continued their celebrations throughout the rest of their trip through Italy.
For Sarah and Drew, Washington, D.C. held a special place in their hearts. Having lived in the city for over ten years, it felt only natural to tie the knot in the place they called home. But they didn’t want to forget the magic of their Italian engagement. To honor this, they infused Italian elements into their wedding day—particularly through their food selections. Cocktail hour featured passed Italian hors d’oeuvres, and when it came to dinner, pasta was a must!
The couple exchanged vows at the timeless, elegant Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Georgetown. After the ceremony, the celebration continued at The Decatur House, a historic venue that perfectly captured the couple’s love for classic architecture and charm.
The two shared that one of their most cherished moments of the day was their private last dance. Tucked away in the upper level of the historic home, Sarah and Drew shared an intimate moment together—just the two of them—soaking in the joy and love that had happened all throughout the day. This special moment is something they highly recommend to other couples planning their weddings.
From the beautiful dinner to dancing under twinkling lights in the courtyard, every detail of their day was pure magic. Seeing their family and friends come together to celebrate their love was the highlight of their wedding, making it truly unforgettable.
